One of Carrbridge Carriage Drivings initiative's is to encourage participation in carriage driving, whether as a driver, groom, back-stepper or volunteer.

After hosting a recent event, I would like to offer clubs, organisations and businesses the opportunity to host or attend a "Curious about Carriage Driving; Interactive Experience", either at Carrbridge Carriage Driving or a venue near you.

After being shown the coaching-hand style of rein handling, you'll get the opportunity to practice what you've learned. We'll also cover the different parts of a set of harness, their function and fit, how to harness a horse and attach it safely and correctly to a 4-wheeled carriage.

With lots of information on how to become involved with carriage driving, the event will conclude with a brief carriage driving display and a chance for you to experience standing on the back-step of the carriage.

Carriage Driving is unique in its ability to let people of all abilities and ages compete on a level playing field.

Our aim is to introducing as many people to carriage driving as is humanly possible, in a safely, friendly environment where learning is fun.

The traditional English Coaching Style of rein handling is a dying skill and we promote this method of rein handling as it is the safest way of handling your reins when out on roads.

Safety First

All beginner lessons will be carried out with two sets of reins, a bit like having duel controls on a learner car.

When carriage driving, visibility is of paramount importance! Hi-viz vest will be provided for all persons on the carriage.

Please note that when driving in fields and along track, these may be bumpy, so this activity may not be suitable for people with back issues.

If you suffer from any health issues, please advise us when you make the booking, as a reasonable amount of mobility is required to mount the carriage.
