Welcome To Carrbridge Carriage Driving

Welcome to Carrbridge Carriage Driving—where time slows, horses lead the way, and every experience is built around connection, skill, and the quiet magic of working in harmony with these remarkable animals.

Set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, from our Croft near Carrbridge, we invite you to step into a world that blends tradition, learning, and unforgettable experiences. Whether you’re here to learn, celebrate, or simply pause and breathe, everything we offer is designed with care, authenticity, and a deep respect for both horse and human.

Carriage driving offers something refreshingly different. It encourages you to slow down, be present, and truly engage—not only with the horse, but with your surroundings. At Carrbridge Carriage Driving, you won’t just watch—you’ll experience.

If you’re looking to learn, our lessons

and practical sessions give you the chance

to build real, hands-on skills. You’ll develop

  confidence in rein handling, understand

how to work safely with horse, harness, and

vehicle, and gain insight into horse care and

management. Every session is tailored to you,

with a clear, supportive pathway that reflects

your ability, goals, and ambitions. You can

learn with one of our experienced turnouts

or bring your own horse and grow together

  as a partnership.

For those seeking a more relaxed experience, our traditional carriage rides offer a peaceful and memorable way to explore the landscape. Travelling at a gentle, unhurried pace, you’ll have time to take in the scenery, unwind, and enjoy the simple rhythm of the journey. Whether it’s a quiet escape, a family outing, or a special occasion, each ride is designed to feel personal and meaningful.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to good horsemanship. Our horses are valued partners, and their wellbeing comes first. This creates a calm, trusting environment where both horse and client can feel relaxed and confident.

No two clients are the same, and neither are our experiences.

From your first enquiry, we take the time to understand what you’re

looking for—whether that’s learning new skills, celebrating

something special, or simply enjoying a unique day out. Every

detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure your experience feels

right for you.

You don’t need any prior experience to join us—just a willingness to

try something new. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking

to develop your skills further, you’ll be welcomed, supported, and

guided every step of the way.

This is more than just an activity—it’s an opportunity to slow down,

connect with nature, and experience the timeless partnership

     between horse and driver.

Information

Experienced

Instructors

I have been carriage driving for over 25 years. Taking part in private driving, club events, long distance driving and Indoor  Carriage Driving and Horse Driving Trials.

UKCC Level 2 Carriage Driving

Safety First

All beginner lessons will be carried out with two sets of reins, a bit like having duel controls on a learner car.

When carriage driving, visibility is of paramount importance! Hi-viz vest will be provided for all persons on the carriage.

Please note that when driving in fields and along track, these may be bumpy, so this activity may not be suitable for people with back issues.

If you suffer from any health issues, please advise us when you make the booking, as a reasonable amount of mobility is required to mount the carriage.

Our Horses

We have 3 carriage horses, all being in the herd from an early age.

Holly and Lola, have both been trained to ride and drive by myself.

Benji's training started in the autumn of 2021 and he is now happy to be both ridden and driven, taking over Holly's job as our main teaching pony.

More about them later.
